About Bheem Athletics
Where strength meets stillness
Bheem Athletics was born to reconnect modern movement with ancient strength. Rooted in the story of Bheem, the legendary warrior of the Mahabharata, we channel disciplined power, focus, and purpose.
In India, strength has always been sacred. Tools like the mudgar (mughdar) trained the body while disciplining the mind. We revive that lineage with minimalist, high-quality tools that blend yogic calm with warrior grit.
Our collection—from ultra-lightweight yoga bolsters to artisan-made rosewood mughdars—is created with care, ethics, and longevity in mind. Bolster covers are sewn by traditional craftspeople in India (paid above livable wage standards), and every bolster is assembled by hand in Vancouver. Made to last. Made to move. Designed to elevate your practice.
This isn’t fitness. This is a philosophy.
Welcome to Bheem.
How bheem Athletics was born
Bheem Athletics was born out of a simple but powerful idea - yoga props should support the body, not weigh it down.
During her C-section recovery, Prem, a certified yoga teacher and co-owner of a Canadian yoga studio with her husband Jai, experienced firsthand how traditional yoga bolsters could be cumbersome and even uncomfortable. Every time she moved a heavy bolster during restorative yoga, her healing body protested.
That frustration sparked a vision: create a lightweight yoga bolster that still offered uncompromising support.
After months of prototyping and testing with their own students, Prem and Jai created Bheem Athletics - the world’s first company to offer yoga bolsters with a choice of firmness. Our firm bolsters are for grounded, structured poses and medium-firm bolsters are for gentle give and backbends. Each bolster weighs only 860 g, about the same as a standard loaf of bread, making it effortless to move in class or at home.
Handmade with care, Bheem bolsters are ethically sewn in India by artisans paid above livable wage standards, then assembled in Vancouver, Canada.
Alongside the bolsters, Bheem introduced handcrafted mughdars — traditional Indian wooden clubs made from rosewood, bringing centuries-old strength training into the modern wellness space.
From restorative yoga to functional strength training, Bheem Athletics exists to help people move with ease, honour tradition, and choose the support that works best for their body. If we can choose the firmness of our mattress, why shouldn’t we have the same choice in our yoga bolsters?
